CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semi Conductor) :

All PCs have a CMOS chip, which is used to save your hardware setting while your computer is powered down.  Several configuration option are controlled by the CMOS chip.  There setting include the correct data and time,  details of the hard drive(s) connected, and language setting.  The CMOS chip is supported by battery,  allowing it to store these setting without main power.
The BIOS and COMS ar3 often through to be the same physics computer chip,  but are in fact separate.  Although the set-up utility itself is stored on stored on the BIOS chip,  the system settings are held within the CMOS
EPROM :-(Erasable programmable Read Only memory)
It is just an imporoved PROM.  Using ultra violet rays erase the existed program or electrical signal and fresh program can write using PRON programmer
RAM :- (Random access Memory)
Random -access memory (RAM) chip hold the program (sequence of instructions)  and data that the CPU is presently processing.  RAM is called temporary or volatile storage because everything in most types of RAM is lost as soon as the microcomputer is turned off.  It is also lost if there is a power failure or the other disruption of the electric current going to the microcomputer.  Secondary storage which we shall describe in chapter 8, does not loose it's contents.  It is permanent or nonviolentile stored,  such as data stored on a hard disk.  For this reason,  as we mentioned earlier,  it is a good idea to frequently save your work in progress to a secondary storage device.  That is,  if you are working on a document or a spreadsheet, every few minutes you should save,  or store the material.
Cache (pronounced "cash") memory includes processing by acting as a temporary high speed holding area between memory and the CPU.  The computer detects which information in RAM is most frequently used and then copies that information into the catch.  When needed,  the CPU can quickly access the information from the cache.
Having who RAM is important! For ex., To use Microsoft office 2007 effectively,  you need a minimum of 256MB of RAM to hold the programs and another 512MB -1024MB of RAM for the operating system.
Some applications such as photo editing software,  may require ever more,  fortunately,  additionally RAM,  can be added to computer system,  by inserting an expansion module called a DIMM dual inline memory module g into the system board.  The capacity or amount of RAM is expressed in bytes  . There are three commonly used units of measurements to describe memory capacity.  Other types of RAM to concludes DRAM, SDRAM, DDR,  and direct RDRAM.
Even if your computer does not have enough RAM to  hold a program,  it might be able to run the program using virtual memory.  Most of today's operating system support virtual memory.  With virtual memory.  Large program are divided into perspective are stored on a secondary device,  usually a hard disk.  Each part is then read into RAM only when needed.  In this way. The computer system are able to run a very large programs.
