Printers :-printers are us3d to get a hard copy of the output generation by computer. The quality of the printout depends on the type of the printer used to print it. Printers come with different speeds, quality, and other facilities. The printers are broadly divided into two categories : Impact and Non-impact printers.
1. Impact printer :- Most printers operate like the traditional typewriter. Images are placed on paper by striking (impacting) a pattern against an inked ribbon, which in turn strikes the paper and thus the image is printed. The most common impact prints is the matrix printer.
A) Dot matrix printer :- This type of printer prints one character at time with speed ranging from 80 c. p. s. to 900 c. p. s. (Character per second) It is named as dot matrix due to its characteristics of using matrix code for printing the character. It is available in various sizes like 40 columns, 80 columns, 132 columns etc. (the size means maximum number of characters in normal size of 10 characters pe4 inch, that can be printed in each line output) The print quality of dot matrix varies from 5 c p i to 17 c p i .
B) Daisy wheel printer :- High quality output is obtained from daisy wheels and laser printers. In the daisy wheel printer, each spoke of the plastic wheel has character embossed on it A motor rotates the wheel and when the desired character spoke reaches the correct position, a print hammer strikes it to produce the output. The drawbacks of daisy wheels is that they are very slow. The character set on a wheel is of a fixed typeface. To change the typeface of characters one has to change the daisy wheel.
C) Line printer :- Advance business application required high-speed quality print. Instead of printing character by character another principle is used in which a number of character in a row and printed simultaneously . Line printers prints at very high speeds about five to 20 lines per second or 200 to 1200 lpm (line per minute) for 132 -column printer. It is costlier and it is used only where required very large amount of paint job to be done regularly.
2:- New advanced printer is developed in such a way that they do not strike ribbon against. Paper to produce the image. Such printers are called Non-impact printers. These printers use different technologies under the control of computer to produce the images; the most common Non-impact printer technologies are laser technology, ink-jet technology, and thermal technology. The printer are named the after the technology that are employed by them to produce in printing sharp graphic images. All Images printers can produce multiple copies by using carbon paper but Non-impact printers can produces only one printout at a time.
A) Ink jet printer :- This printer work with ink. This printer contains a nozzle in which ink and is connected. When the nozzle throws ink on the paper an electro-magnetic field is made on the paper and ink is spread in paper on the shape of electro-magnetic field. This is much cheaper than the laser up gradable to the colour printer. Now a day these printers are more popular because of its cast and the versatility.
B) Laser printer :-In the laser printer, laser light is used to produce the image on paper. It contains a drum coated with photosensitive material . The laser beam is focused on this rotating drum under the control of the computer to produce the image on it in the form of electrostatic charges. A toner (ink) is applied to the drum.
The toner particles are attracted by the impression of the ink is created on the paper. In order to make this ink impression permanent the heat and pressure is applied on the paper by passing it through a hot roller. Laser printers are used to produce high quality output. Various laser printers having capacity to print 5 to 20 pages per minute are available in the market.
Plotter :- This is output device as same as the printer but it can give the output in large size. The speed of the plotter is not much high but the accuracy is much more. It is generally use in engineering work. It can print big graphs, design, and illustrations under the control of computer to which it was link. Many create graphics on paper, which cost much less than having them produce commercially.
Speaker :
It is used to hear the recorded sound, it converts the signal store in computer into audio signal Computer also produce sound output, ranging from simple beeps alerting the user, to impressive game sound effects, to connect quality music. The circuitry produce sound may be included in the motherboard, but high quality audio output from a PC usually requires a sound card input one of the expansion slots connection to a set of good quality external speakers or headphones,
Surface Computing :
Microsoft Surface is a touch -based graphical user interface. The system is composed of a horizontal touch screen under a coffee table -like surface, with cameras mounted below to detect the used interaction. All interface components such as dialogs , mouse pointer and windows, are replaced with circles and rectangle outlining "objects " that are manipulative via drag and drop. The "objects " in question can be either virtual on the screen. Physical objects such as cell phone I cameras, and PDAs placed on the screen. Physical objects are automatically identified and connected to the Surface computer upon their placement o screen
