Type of computer /Introduction to Computer

           Computer can be typed on the basis of their size and its capacity.  Following are the types of the computer

1. Super computer :-
           This computer is the most powerful computer than any other type of a computer.  It understand any type of input data.  Whether it is graphical from,  or the text froms it have the capacity to read both analog and digital signals.  This computer is used for calculating more complex types of data.  It's CPU has large word-length. It has very big memory capacity and very high speed.

Characteristics of the Super computer

• Its CPU is must powerful. 
• It understand both analog and digital as well graphical signals. 
• It primary memory is large than any other type of the computer. 
• It is multi-user capacity (at a time more than one user can be work on the same CPU) 
• It is use to analyzed very complex type of data. 
• It is use for the satellite program,  whether forecasting geological work,  nuclear research etc

2. Main frame Computer :-

            This is also a big computer in the category but it has smaller capacity and speed than the super computer.  It is also multi -user due to powerful CPU.  It word-length and primary memory is also high. 

Characteristics of the mainframe computer 

• The size and capacity of the computer is also large but less than super computer 
• It is specially designed for multi-user functions. 
• The word length and memory is bigger.  The word length is 32 bit to 64 bit. 

Example IBM -400, DEC-600 

3. Mini Computer :- 

            The mini computer is medium size of the computer,  is quite high as compare to microcomputer.  The mini computer is again multi user and multi tasking processor. 

Following are the characteristics and draw back of the mini computer.

•  This computer is also called as digital computer.
•   It occupied large space as compare to super computer. 
•   These computers are used for multi tasking processing tech.
• It's word-length is in between 32 bit to 64 bit 
• Ex. PDP-11 and HP-2100

4. Micro computer:-

               A microcomputer is smaller general processing unit;it is similar to any other large system. Microcomputer are design for use by one-person. The computer can't be easily link to any large computer. They consist by different units like input unit, output unit memory unit CPU. Now days the microcomputer are powerful. That's why the computer is used in multi processing  techniques. 

Following are the characteristics and drawbackof microcomputer

• They are very small in size it can put on the tabletop or event user can carry. 
• The word length of a computer in between 8 bits to 64 bits.
• The execution speed of a computer is not much fast but still it is sufficient 
• It is cheaper so it can be use for general propose work 
• Example,486,pentium-ll-lll-etc.
