Monitor (VDU) / Introduction to computers

A microcomputer is providing with a monitor on which character or graphics are displayed.  The display is called is by different name such as monitor,  console,  CRT (Cathode Ray Tube),  VDU (Visual Display Unit)  . VDU is like a window of the computers memory.  It display whatever is already exists in the memory or is freshly entered through the keyboard.  Some part of the data can display on the screen at a time.  The software allows scrolling the line of the screen up or down to see another of the data.  Which is not appearing on the screen but stored in the memory. A character typed on the keyboard,  via CPU is displayed on the screen.  The display is essential,  so that the user should knows what actually is going on.  Computer does not need a monitor,  it can perform all processing without any display or monitor but it is necessary for the user.  Monitors are available in various size displayed 12 line of text, each line of 32 characters approximately.  A standard screen display for IBM -PC measures 14 niches diagonally and can display 24 horizontal lines of 80 vertical columns and maximum 80 character in on horizontal line.  Monitors are available as available as colored as well as mono ( only black and white),  images which are formed in CRT's by very small dots called as pixel.  Each pixel is a dot on the screen.  Larger the number or pixels sharps and clearer the picture.  Using a matrix of these dots forms a particular character . Lighted at specified points and not lighted at other.
