Access Methods :-
You now know that a network uses a network topology - which is the layout of the network - and you know that some from of media such as cabling connects all hosts on the network. We have discussed the three major types of cabling : coax, twisted - pair, and fiber - optic cabling.
This section will identify what are known as access methods. An access method determines how a host will place data on the wire - roes the host have to wait it's turn or can it just place the data on the wire whenever plot wants? The answer is determined by three major access methods : CSMA/CD , CSMA/CA, and token passing. Let's look at these access methods.
