Clients and resources / Internet and Networking

Clients and resources :-
A major component of successful networking with NOS is the client operating system.  The client operating system needs to have client software installed known as the directory.  The term redirection comes from the fact that when the client makes the request for a network resource, the redirection redirects the request from the local system to the network server.  Whether the workstations are in a workgroup enviroent (peer-to-peer)  or a client/server environment,  you need to have client software installed on the client operating systems to connect to the servers.  Some examples of client operating systems that can connect to a Windows server are Windows XP Professional,  Windows 2000 Professional,  Windows NT Workstation 4.0 , Windows 95/98, and Windows for Workgroups.
Another reason Windows server have been so successful is that they support many different client operating systems.  Not only can Windows clients such as Windows 98 and Windows XP clients,  and UNIX clients can connect to Microsoft server.  Microsoft has been very focused on coexisting with other environments.
